Dove holiday fundraising challenge

Although the holiday season may be a bit unusual this year, we wanted to create a challenge that embodies the gift of giving while keeping our staff healthy and happy! We are challenging each of you to participate in a competition that requires teamwork, creative thinking, and most importantly—holiday spirit. All of the proceeds will go to our five chosen charities that are making an impact for women across the world.

How to participate

There will be five teams participating in this competition, each representing a charity. Your team will need to come up with a creative way to fundraise over social media. Here are some fun examples of how you can raise money for your charity:

  •  Physical challenge: for every $10 raised, you record yourself completing a physical task like climbing a flight of stairs, doing a number of push-ups or holding a plank.
  •  Readathon challenge: ask friends and family on social media to donate a certain amount of money each time you finish a book.
  •  12-hour challenge: collect pledges while live-streaming yourself doing an activity for 12-hours straight.
  •  Dare challenge: each person who donates to your charity is allowed to give you a dare that is posted to social media for your followers to see.
  •  Get creative: come up with a creative challenge that engages friends and family over social media to help fundraise for your charity.

Our charity partners

Here are our five charity partners for this year’s fundraising challenge. We’ve provided a description of each organization so you can pick the one that resonates most with you; but choose quickly, there are only five spots open per charity/team and it’s first-come, first-served.

  •  National Eating Disorder Information Centre (NEDIC): provides information, resources, referrals and support to Canadians affected by eating disorders.
  •  HeForShe: a social movement campaign providing a systematic approach and targeted platform through which men and boys become agents of change for the achievement of gender equality.
  •  Plan Canada: addresses the issue of gender discrimination around the world. The goal of the campaign is to promote the rights of girls and bring millions of girls out of poverty around the world.
  •  StrongMinds: treats depression in women in Africa through intervention and through Group based Interpersonal Psychotherapy programs.
  •  Ending Violence Association of Canada (EVA CAN): a national non-profit organization whose main purpose is to educate and respond to gender-based violence at the national level.

Your next move

Once you’ve chosen one of our five participating charities, your next move is to simply send in your choice to raeganf@dove.ca before Nov. 25, 2020. You will be sent an email with your team members once everyone has submitted their charity choice. We can’t wait to see your challenges!
